You're super duper in every single way | Mama Elephant

Hello and happy Saturday! Again I am participating in the #sharehandmadekindness challenge from Jennifer McGuire. Therefore, I designed cards for kids which I will send to Jennifer in order to take part in the card shower for two awesome and brave children and their siblings.

I thought that the 'tiny heroes' stamp set from Mama Elephant is perfect for this occasion because cancer-fighting kids are real heroes in my point of view!

I started out by creating an ombre looking background with distress inks which I sprizzed with water after applying the colors. Then I used the smaller rectangle die from the Mama Elephant die set 'sew fancy' for the background. I masked off the little stripes at the edges because I didn't want any paste on them.

Next I mixed my ranger texture paste with silver acrylic paint and applied it with a star stencil and palette knife to the background.

While letting that dry I stamped the heroes with archival jet black ink and colored them in with my Zig clean color real brush markers. I also created little banners for the greeting from the same stamp set.

For assembling the card I clued the background with very strong adhesive to a white cardbase (3.7x4.9 inch; 9,5 x 12,5 cm) and adhered the little images as well as the banner to my card. Last but not least I added Wink of Stella to the outfits of the little heroes.
I will also add paintings from my nephews and niece to brighten up the day of the children even more :)

Because the two kids for which I created these cards have one sibling each I also created cards for them because they must definitely be very brave too!

I hope the kids will receive many cards and have happy moments reading them! I think this is such a great idea. Perhaps one day I can organize such a card shower in my country too!!

Hello and happy Saturday! The card I'm showing you today is for the second week of the #sharehandmadekindness challenge from Jennifer McGuire. For more information about this great challenge click on the image below.

I really love the look of watercolored images. Especially when they look a little bit sketchy or imperfect. However, I've never tried it because I tend to be a perfectionist and I thought that this was just not my technique. Nevertheless, the beautiful watercolored cards and images inspired me to try it once. Therefore, I took my distress ink pads and awesome stamp sets from Mama Elephant, started painting and...            

.....I love it!! 

It's far away from the watercoloring skills of other great craft makers out there but I really like the result :)

The card design is not that complicated. I just did a lot of masking to create this nice flower arrangement and integrated the little girl from the 'In my heart' stamp set. For the greeting I used the 'Scripty thanks' die from Lawn Fawn which I used on black fun foam. I also added glitter with the Wink of Stella pen and some clear sequins.

Bright stars | Mama Elephant & share handmade kindness challenge

Hello and happy Saturday!! As promised I share a card for the "Share Handmade Kindness"-Challenge from Jennifer Mcguire with you. Fore more information about this wonderful challenge click on the image below.

I wanted to create an encouragement card because if someone goes through a hard time I think it is important to support him/her and also to show that there is always a silver lining. So I tried to combine these two aspects in one card and used two of the Mama Elephant stamp sets: 'Ella and Friends' and 'Shooting Star'. Mama Elephant includes such beautiful sentiments in their stamp sets; they are perfect for such occasions!!

For the background I masked off the bottom part and created a dark night sky with chipped sapphire and black soot. (on the photo it looks a little bit brighter than it is in real life) I left a small spot very bright because I already knew that there would be the little star but you probably could use white pigment ink to brighten the spot afterwards too. For the grass I used black soot over peeled paint to make it very dark in this starless night.

After letting that dry (distress inks need a little bit to dry, you could also use a heat gun to speed up the waiting process) I stamped the sentiment from the 'Shooting Star' stampset in Versamark and heatembossed it with white embossing powder.

The elephant, bunny and stone were stamped in Memento tuxedo black ink because I colored them in with Copics. For the star I used distress inks (scattered straw, mustard seed) and my Mini ink blending tool to color it in very quickly. I cut the images out and adhered them to the background. I used the wink of stella brush in clear and glossy accents on the star and scattered some sparkling clear sequins in 4 and 6mm around the sentiment.

I wanted to use a white cardbase for my background but it looked a little bit too plain. So I used the dotted border die from Lawn Fawn to make it more interesting.

I hope I managed to include both messages in the card: to help the person and encourage her/him to look on the bright side.
