Hooray - It's your birthday! | Mama Elephant

Hi everyone! I am back with two new cards featuring the adorable 'Space Bears' stamp set from Mama Elephant.

I was so excited about using this set and creating a nice galaxy background. And this is where the cards started...

I prepared two pieces of watercolor paper and used my Gansai Tambi colors to create a black background with areas of teal and purple/pink. Before the papers had a chance to dry I scattered seasalt all over the backgrounds and let them dry over night. Next day I peeled  the salt away and added black watercolor on top of the backgrounds. After that I sprinkled white watercolor on the papers in order to create the galaxy. Here are some pictures that capture the process:

(step one and two: coloring the background and scattering seasalt)

(step three: peeling away the salt after letting the paper dry)

(step four: adding more black and sprinkling white watercolor)

After that I heat embossed the greeting from the stamp set with white embossing powder and set the pieces aside. Next I stamped some images from the set with Memento tuxedo black, colored them in with Copic markers and used the coordinating dies for die cutting all of the pieces.

I also tried out the new Avery Elle dye ink 'new moon' which can be used with Copic markers:

Because I didn't want to create two cards with the same design I adhered one of the backgrounds to a teal cardbase and added the elements with foam tape (except for the planets and the rocket because it should look like they are far away).
For the other card I trimmed down the galaxy and adhered the images in the same way to the background. Instead of cluing that piece to a teal cardbase I used a white card which I embossed with a next level embossing folder from We Are Memory Keepers.

To finish up the cards I added glossy accents to the helmets and balloons.

I wish you a nice week and I'll see you soon! Thank's for stopping by!
